Staying put: Local dad making best of government order

GRAND RAPIDS — The United States’ shutdown due to the coronavirus has changed the lives of millions of Americans.

James Chastain, 50, from Grand Rapids, Michigan, has been taking advantage of the time he has been able to spend at home to make home improvements and create activities at home — including a golf hole in his side yard.

“It isn’t a lot of fun being cooped up at home,” Chastain said. “But we’ve been trying to make the best of the situation placed before us.”

James Chastain, 50, deals with the shelter in place order by playing golf in his backyard on April 3 in Grand Rapids, Michigan.
After golf, Chastain takes his competition skills to the backyard as he plays cornhole.
Chastain grills hot dogs for his family after the day of competition.
Chastain finishes up his duties on the grill and prepares to serve dinner to his family.
